Creating a Fantasy

The biggest single obstacle to setting goals is “self-limiting beliefs”. You sell yourself short because you believe that you do not have the skills, ability, talent, creativity or intelligence to achieve something you want. By underestimating yourself, you either set no goals or low goals that are far below what you could have accomplished.

If you really have the desire to start achieving something, start by creating a fantasy. Imagine what your ideal career/business life will be like five years from now by answering the following questions:

What would it look like to you?

What would you be doing?

Where do you think you will be doing it?

Who would you want to be working with?

What level of responsibility would want to you have?

What kind of skills and abilities would you want to acquire?

What kind of goals would you want to accomplish?

What level of status would you want to find yourself in?

Now to make it more interesting, imagine your financial situation five years from now:

How much money would you be earning five yrs from today?

What sort of lifestyle would you want to have?

What kind of home would you want to live in?

What kind of car would you love to drive?

What kind of material luxuries would you be providing for yourself and your family?

How much would you want to have in the bank?

How much would you be saving and investing each month and each year?

How much would you want to be worth when you retire?

Look at your family and relationships today and project five years into the future:

If your family life were perfect five years from now, what do you think it would look like?

Who would you be with? Who would you no longer be with?

Where and how would you be living?

What kind of living standards would you want to have?

What kind of relationships would you have with the most important people in your life five years from now if everything were perfect in every aspect?

After you fantasize and imagine what your life will be, the only question you need to ask is how? Asking it repeatedly trigger ideas to help you accomplish your goals. Successful people ask only the question “How?” and then work on finding ways to turn their vision or goals into realities.

Goal setting is a great way to make sure you achieve what your heart desire.
